FAQ’s

1. How far are you from Yellowstone National Park?
We are 45 miles, or about an hour from the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The Northwest corner of the Park is only 20 miles from the Ranch and is where we lead some of our hikes and horseback rides.

2. What is the closest airport and how far is it?  How long does it take to get to the Ranch from the airport?
The closest airport is the Gallatin Field airport (BZN), near Bozeman, MT. This airport is 48 miles from the Ranch and the trip will take approximately one hour.

3. Can we ride horses together as a family? How old do you have to be to ride?
Most of our families choose to ride together, to be able to share the experience. To go on a regular horseback ride, a child must be a minimum of 6 years old and at least 44” tall. We offer “pony rides” to the younger kids of 4 & 5, this allows them to get in the saddle and be led around on some of the near by trails.

4. What is the weather like?
The average highs and low ranges for each summer month in Fahrenheit are: June High 70-75 Low 45-50; July High 75-80 Low 50-60; August High 75-85 Low 50-60; September High 70-75 Low 40-45.

5. What is the tipping policy?
If you wish to leave a gratuity we suggest 10-15% of your package rate which can be added to your cabin charges when you settle your bill. This will then be divided equally among the entire crew.

6. What is included in the rate?
3 meals daily, Horseback riding 6 days a week, Naturalist led hikes, Canoe trip, Yellowstone National Park tour, Mountain Biking, Outdoor Youth Adventures Program, BBQ’s, evening entertainment and a complimentary shuttle on our weekly check in/ check out day.

7. Are there TVs in the rooms? Cell phone reception?
There are no Telephones or TVs in the rooms. There is a TV in the B-K and a collection of DVD’s; Verizon is by far the strongest cell phone reception at the Ranch, and we offer Wi-Fi in all our cabins.

8. What is your elevation?
The Office and Dining Room are at an elevation of 6700 ft, with the surrounding mountains that range from 9,000-11,000 ft.

9. Do we need to bring our own riding boots or do you provide them?
You are quite welcome to bring your own boots if you already have them. If not, we have a collection of Boots we can loan you when you go riding. The boot sizes we have on hand range from 5 – 15.

10. Are you able to accommodate special dietary restrictions?
Absolutely! Our chefs are very talented in accommodating special needs such as: vegetarian, vegan, low fat, low salt, no carbs, high protein, lactose intolerance, shellfish & nut allergies, etc. Just let us know before you get to the ranch so we have time to get creative!

11. Do we need a car?
Not necessarily. We provide your transportation to all activities, as well as a complimentary airport shuttle on our weekly check in/ check out day. We would recommend a car if you have smaller children or someone with limited mobility so that you could tour the area on your own and have a little more flexibility. Another reason that guests prefer to have a car is if there is an avid fisherman in the group who does not want a guided fishing trip. With a car they can ask the locals for advice, then have a great fishing adventure on their own while exploring all the Blue Ribbon Rivers and Streams we have in the area.

12. Are we able to fish on site?
North Fork Creek runs through the property and we have been slowly improving the fishery in the last 5-7 years. However, you really need to be pretty good at landing that fly amongst all the brush at the edges of the creek.

13. Do our kids eat with us or separately?
Families eat together. The only time your kids may not eat a meal with you is if they are at a kid’s program evening meal event, like a pizza party or BBQ.

14. Can we keep the same horse the whole week?
We will match you with a horse based on your age, height, weight and riding experience. If the horse is a good match, we will do everything possible to have that horse available for you.
