Guided Wade and Walk Trips
Our guide focused on his clients and expressed true enthusiasm for and appreciation of fly fishing and the quality of the fishing experience in Montana.
R. L., CA

A walk wade trip is the best way to teach the many aspects of fly fishing. Beginners learn the basics of casting, fly presentation, knots and entomology (the study of aquatic insects), while the intermediate fisher may work on perfecting skills such as line mending and more advanced casting. Advanced fishermen enjoy trying some new tactics as well as practicing the basics to find the fish. The main focus on a walk wade trip is education and appreciation of the the natural surroundings. Our objective is to teach our clients to appreciate fly fishing as an enjoyable pastime and to perfect the skills required to catch fish.

Lone Mountain Ranch is located next to some fantastic small streams accessed only by foot. These waters are small feeder streams to the Gallatin and the many streams both large and small in Yellowstone National Park. Cutthroat, Rainbow and Brown trout live in these areas and a walk wade trip can make for a very rewarding day with both great fishing and beautiful scenery.
