Meet the Horses
The Lone Mountain Ranch draft horses are very important members of the Sleigh Ride team. Each horse comes with his/her own unique personality and characteristics. You can learn more about them below.
Draft horses are very docile animals and their size, strength and passion for working make them very versatile horses and excellent for working farms and ranches. There are many breeds of draft horses such as Percherons and Belgians and they range from approximately 16 to 19 hands high, weigh from 1,400 to 2,100 lbs and can pull up to three times their weight. Just like any working animal, they take a lot of pride in a job well done and are not happy just sitting around. When they aren’t working with their drivers taking groups of guests to the North Fork Cabin, they enjoy laying and soaking up the warmth on a sunny day and playing around on cooler days.
